Abusive IP addresses are IPs that are involved in malicious activity on the internet. They might be used in a few different ways, such as:
- Launching DDoS attacks
- Sending unsolicited emails (Spam)
- Phishing
- Malware distribution
- ...and more!
While IPinfo has pages for every public IP address on the internet, we do not own or operate them. If you suspect that an IP address is abusing your network connection, you need to report that abuse. To report an abusive IP address, the complaint needs to go to the network operator responsible for that IP.
Our abuse contact data provides the contact details of the operator to whom you can report issues.
Two quick ways to access IPinfo abuse contact data:
- Use our explore page for quick, one-time lookups. Simply paste in the IP address you're interested in and hit enter. The details for the IP address will be displayed. Scroll down to the "abuse" property.
- The search bar at the top of our website provides a graphical user interface to view the same data. Paste in the IP address and hit enter. Then scroll down to the Abuse section:
With the contact details in hand, you can file your report directly with the network operator.
For automated abuse reporting workflows, the same data is available via the API.
