Both the API and database downloads provide the same IP address data at the same level of accuracy & quality. The difference is in how the data is accessed and stored.
The API returns the data with each HTTP request. IPinfo handles the data storage and updates so that you only need to consume the data by requesting it via the API.
Database downloads provide the full dataset as a file stored locally. This removes the need for API calls at query time, which can be beneficial for high-volume lookups, air-gapped environments, or latency-sensitive applications. Downloads are available in CSV, JSON, MMDB, and PARQUET formats, with options to customize included fields and set a recurring download schedule.
